The right thickness: 10 mm bonded or 20 mm on pedestal supports
Besides the material, the tile's thickness determines the suitable installation method. Basically, two systems are available:

Slip resistance outdoors: R11 and A+B

- Slope: The area needs a slope of around 1.5 to 2% so that rain and meltwater drain away reliably and don't collect in dips, where it could freeze.
- Drainage: Beneath the tile, a water-permeable substructure of gravel, chippings or a drainage mat ensures that moisture doesn't remain standing in the bed. Standing water under the tile is the most common cause of frost damage, even with material that is inherently frost-proof.
