Thickness & Installation: 10 mm or 20 mm Terrace Slabs

- 20 mm, on pedestals or gravel: the flexible solution for new terraces, gardens and balconies without a fixed substrate. The terrace slabs are laid floating on pedestals, gravel or grass — with no mortar needed, also ideal for later removal.

No, not every tile is automatically frost-proof. Only densely sintered porcelain stoneware with water absorption below 0.5% is reliably frost-proof and can withstand Swiss winters with frequent freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or spalling. Be sure to check for this specification when buying.
What thickness do terrace slabs need?
For glued installation on a solid base, 10 mm tiles are sufficient. If the terrace tiles are laid loose on pedestals, gravel or crushed stone, you should choose 20 mm terrace slabs, as they better distribute point loads.
What slip rating is needed outdoors?
Outdoors we recommend at least slip rating R11, and ideally R11 B or higher for pool areas and barefoot paths. This rating indicates how secure the footing is when wet.
